Neat, clean designs and unusual typography from French designer Romain Baro

Date

“Hello from France!” read graphic designer and photographer Romain Baro’s cheerful missive. “Today I thought: ‘Well, maybe it’s my turn to show you my work.’” We’re rather glad he did: Romain’s graphic work shows an experimental, clean approach to typography and brave, pared back layouts that work perfectly for his mostly cultural sector clients.

Working across a range of printed media, his School of Arts Choletais newspaper No. 5 Paulownia designs particularly caught our eye, merging unusual approaches to type, zine-like black and white imagery and a lovely blue translucent paper stock. His less-is-more approach is also seen on his simple yet eye-catching posters for a photography exhibition and the La Puce des Arts event. Romain is also a photographer, and has worked with Le Monde documenting workers, teenagers, and asylum seekers in areas including New York and Kabul.
