Sergiy Maidukov’s rich editorial illustrations are reminiscent of old film posters

Date
14 December 2015

Based in Kyiv, Ukraine, illustrator Sergiy Maidukov’s work is a rich mix of colours, textures and harsh angles. Reminiscent of Russian film posters from the 60s, his editorial illustrations invade the blank page with gusto with unusual compositions and ill-proportioned characters.

Serigy has been commissioned by The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Esquire Ukraine and the British Royal Dance Company among others, and his style manages to make abstract concepts more tangible. Most of the illustrator’s works are created in a quick five or six hours and this swiftness translates itself to Serigy’s illustration in way that feels like he’s just capturing a snapshot of the bigger picture his figures exist in.
