As a kid I’d avoid the local playground – ‘fun’ is difficult to experience within a mess of half-broken slides and rope-less swings. But, then, I lived in a small Midlands town, not in Japan, where 500-metre-long slides carving through opulent parkland are apparently commonplace. Despite research, we’ve yet to discover the slide’s maker – if you happen to know, please pass on a bout of sustained applause.
