Tom Johnson turns his lens on a teenager who chose fashion over army fatigues

Date
14 August 2015

When we last left the very talented Tom Johnson, the photographer was busy bringing together the different aspects of his practice, from portraits to documentary-style projects. He’s now adding editorial to his ever-growing roster and this new shoot for PYLOT – which you might remember as the all-analogue photography magazine that eschews retouching – shows his beautiful portraiture skills are perfectly suited to the job. In a spirited, flaxen-hued series shot out in the countryside, Tom captures a fresh-faced sixteen-year-old who was scouted just before he was about to join the army.
