Tom Johnson's stunning new shoot of 12-year-old kickboxing champ “Tigger”

Date
1 July 2016

In a beautiful and rather fierce new series for Pylot magazine, Tom Johnson has photographed the fascinating Victoria Louise Perkins, who at “12 years and six months” is a Swansea-based British kickboxing champ, and seemingly a girl not to be messed with. The shoot is full of character and personality, with Tom managing to capture both the tough nature of Victoria and her child-like vulnerability. The series was styled and cast by Charlotte James, who Tom worked with on Merthyr Rising and The Evans Girls projects, and the work is equally compelling, with superb composition and colours that create a calmness and stillness that forms a brilliant tension with the visible energy of its subject, whose nickname is “Tigger.”
