Photography: Two States shed some light on the strange world of war reenactment

Date
4 December 2013

Two States is a collaborative photographic project between Eva O’Leary and one of our favourites, Harry Griffin. Both based in New York City, the pair have recently started working together on series that inspire and excite them both. Currently this extends to a single project, Devil’s Den, an extraordinarily technicolour look at a gang of civil war reenactment enthusiasts reliving the battle of Gettysburg again and again and again. The vibrant quality of their shots is wholly anachronistic to how we normally perceive the colours of antiquity but makes Devil’s Den all the more engaging. Spectacular stuff!
