A look at Victory Journal’s brand new, sporty “Arts and Letters” issue

Date
11 December 2015

For its tenth issue, Victory sought to find out what happens when sports and art come together. The sports journal produced in-house by Brooklyn-based creative agency Doubleday & Cartwright also recently picked up Best Use of Photography at the Stack Awards 2015. From Gay Talese’s unflinching portrait of a boxer on the way out, to the story of Bonnie Erickson, the designer behind Miss Piggy and a celebrated figure in the mascot industry, the just launched arts and letters issue of Victory aims to turn jock culture, and the very concept of sport, on its head by offering new perspectives on the mostly overlooked intersection between athleticism and creativity.
