What’s On: Ai Weiwei

Prior to his inexplicable detention, Ai Weiwei planned to exhibit key works from the last six years at the Lisson Gallery. Now, as the culturally significant figure and activist for human rights in China has not been heard from since his detainment, the gallery and Ai’s legion of supporters are following through with his intentions. With his work standing in his stead and continuing to speak profoundly, the pieces, which include a coffin carved from wood reclaimed from destroyed Buddhist temples and a marble CCTV camera, will undoubtedly be afforded a new level of significance at this time.
