You know those ridiculous, good-for-nothing hairs on the back of your neck? Well get ready for them to stand up in this unbelievably great video form Willis Earl Beal. The Chicago artist/singer/songwriter has a colourful past – including a medical discharge form the US Army and a period spent living on the streets – and for a long time his only publicity was idiosyncratic self-made flyers appealing for friends which appeared in bookshops and the like. Now signed to XL Recordings the man’s sheer talent might be about to get the recognition it so richly deserves. Oh and if you ring him, he’ll sing you a song, write to him and he’ll send you a picture. Our kind of guy.
