Nuanced and deliciously strange illustration from Japanese artist Yu Fukugawa

Date
21 August 2015

Some lovely illustrations here from Japanese artist Yu Fukagawa, who manages to make few lines and sparse use of colour incredibly full of life. Whether releasing a simple horizon, a woman hoovering or a doodle teeming with people and icons, his work is considered, nuanced and delightfully strange. While these illustrations are eminently commissionable, there’s a lovely wry humour at play, too. Case in point: that wonderful, busty lady enjoying a pint, while sitting in a bowl of soup.
