Redheads everywhere are rejoicing as at long last, Unicode has announced that redhead emojis will be released in 2018. This marks the release of the most requested icon since Apple released iOS 11.1 on 1 November, states Jeremy Burger, chief emoji officer at Emojipedia and vice-chair and Unicode.

The release of iOS 11.1 also saw Twitter users crying out for curly haired emojis, another request which has been answered. Alongside this, new additions to the emoji keyboard will include cupcakes, an infinity symbol, swans and superheroes.

The proposed additions have not yet been finalised, however, we can expect the new set of emojis to arrive in the middle of next year.
