Fons Hickmann's gorgeous Semperoper catalogue has got us hot for opera

If you’re not a fan of the opera then let’s see if we can’t change your mind. Fons Hickmann m23 have just produced a visually rich catalogue for the Saxon State Opera’s legendary Semperoper venue. The beautifully simple design is punctuated throughout with illustrations of Dresden through the ages – from its heyday as a Baroque playground through to its post-war modernist cityscapes. It even features a powerful portrait of severe operatic poster-boy Richard Wagner, though he’s sitting right opposite a huge block of fluorescent pink, which we think softens his face a little. We’d happily sit through all fifteen hours of The Ring Cycle if it meant we could own one of these little beauties.
