Hat-Trick designs book about ideas of imagining, creating and connecting

Hat-Trick design has condensed some whopping ideas into some simple, well-executed design work. Tackling the sprawling topics of Imagine, Create, Connect, the London-based agency’s latest project saw it tasked with creating a “compendium” of 15 years’ worth of work by FutureCity. The client is a “culture and place making consultancy,” according to Hat-Trick, and works to create new cultural sites and forge partnerships between artists and developments.

It’s a lot to pack into one volume, and each of the ideas FutureCity bases itself around (the aforementioned  Imagine, Create, Connect) takes a distinct section, demarcated by different paper stocks. “The books are foiled in three colours on the covers and the binding is section sewn with exposed threads,” says Hat-Trick designer Tim Sumner. “It’s a very visual led design as you’d expect, but it also emphasises the strategic work they do.”
