The House of Peroni is back for another month of food, drink and creativity

The House of Peroni is back and as bold as ever, this time celebrating the dizzying cultural diversity of Rome, the birth place of Peroni Nastro Azzurro. Combining the worlds of food, drink, design and film, contemporary Rome has been brought to London for one month only via a transformed townhouse; a four-storey exploration of how Rome’s rich heritage is being interpreted by a new wave of creative talent in Italy.

As soon you as you enter the house you’re greeted by a wonderful blue and white-tinged installation from artist UFO5, who’s created a secret Roman garden by intertwining delicate paper-cut branches and leaves that surround and welcome you. It’s an instant escape from the grey London streets outside and sets the tone perfectly for a multi-sensory experience.

Other highlights include the Orange Gardens on the first floor where a completely immersive installation sees an orange hued room containing a mirrored column interspersed with keyholes. Through the keyholes are looped films by Sophie King, Simon Songhurst, Gabrielle Rigon and Vittorio Bonnaffin, showing how they see Rome as it is today.

Just as striking are the three house bars and top-level restaurant, each one distinctively styled and showcasing a different aspect of modern Rome. With top-notch regional food and uniquely crafted drinks that pay tribute to Italy’s capital city, every last detail has been thought about. The most memorable space was the monument facade created by Andrea Morgante which covered the bar and DJ booth in wonderful geometric bricks, bringing the outside inside.

If you’re after more than expertly mixed drinks and visual kicks though, they’re also hosting a packed schedule of events throughout October, from pasta making masterclasses, film screenings and bespoke perfume blending to name a few.

The House of Peroni have managed to create a distinct but cohesive space that not only celebrates Rome’s history but the emotions and culture it continues to conjure up.
