Manual create a graphically striking kit for Google's visual language
When you’re set a challenge by Google’s UXA design team, there’s the expectation for something pretty darn special to be created. Fortunately for Manual, they nailed their brief and created a smart, clean, eye-catching interpretation of Google’s visual language.
Material Design plays out across all of Google’s platforms and devices to provide a “unified experience.” For its launch at the 2014 I/O Conference, Google wanted a tangible way of imparting this new language, which is where the guys at Manual stepped in to produce a limited-edition takeaway for the event.
The San Francisco-based studio have created a stunningly crisp kit that echoes the philosophy of Material Design in a wonderfully tactile way. By combining block colours with printed layers, a great brightness and spaciousness is constructed throughout. This simple graphic approach works incredibly well, with abstract postcards reflecting the design principles and intentions with great clarity and striking end results.
