A funky fresh museum identity from Finnish studio Tsto
Finnish studio Tsto have been tantalising us with great work for years and yet again I can’t help but be drawn to their new identity for Taidehalli, an art and design museum based in Helsinki.
Using the physical Taidehalli building as a starting point, Tsto pulled graphic elements from the structure to inform the basic identity. Small details and the basic shapes seen in the museum’s entrance for instance have inspired the final logo, which is a clean, modern and playful interpretation of the building.
The new identity goes hand-in-hand with the museum’s aim to develop new ways of approaching contemporary art, which Tsto have acknowledged with the alternative logos they’ve created. Seeing the the identity applied to exhibition posters, catalogues and stationery is where it really comes together with the deep blues and honey peaches blending perfectly with Taidehalli’s overall aesthetic.
