Punk, printing, photography and type - February's Nicer Tuesdays tickets are now on sale!

Date
9 February 2016

We are excited to unveil our line up for this month’s Nicer Tuesdays! Get your tickets here.

Following on from our inspiring lineup last month, we would like to introduce the four creatives who will be taking to the stage this February.

This month we will be hearing from photographer Juno Calypso, who is part of our Ones to Watch list for 2016. Juno will be speaking to us on the eve of her exhibition opening at TJ Boulting in London, that showcases the work that won her the British Journal of Photography International Award. Juno’s carefully crafted images, starring her alter ego Joyce, challenge ideas of femininity and seduction in often surreal and unsettling situations.

Also speaking is graphic designer and writer Sarah Hyndman, who has recently published her book Why Fonts Matter, which looks at the power typography has over our lives and senses. Sarah will be sharing an insight into the influence that typefaces have over our perception of written information and our emotional response to character design.

In 1976 punk exploded into public view and a counter culture was born that shook polite society to its foundations. As London celebrates the 40th anniversary of the birth of punk, cultural commentator Paul Gorman will talk about the places in the capital from which punk emerged and grew into a global cultural phenomenon.

Heliophore is a largely forgotten print technique developed in the 1930s that uses engraving to reflect light at different angles to create the illusion of an animated image. Graphic designer Fraser Muggeridge will tell the story about the studios investigation into this subject and how this became a defining feature of a recent publication.
