formdusche creates punchy and cartoon-like identity for German arts festival

This identity for the National Theatre Mannheim in Germany is full of comic book pow and reminds me of lairy cleaning products that demand attention. Created by Berlin-based studio formdusche for the 18th International Schillertage 2015, a festival of the arts the theatre held over nine days, the identity blends yellow, red and blue cartoon references to create an impactful and confident identity. I love the loudness and slight cheesiness, and it’s great to see a theatre embrace such a boisterous design. With programmes, pamphlets, posters and outdoor advertising, it’s hard to ignore the punchy type and slabs of colour combined with playful slogans.
