See the evolution of beauty through fun parties and fabulous subcultures
Is it still FOMO if you feel like you’re there? A bigger question for another time perhaps, but if you’ve ever felt like you’re missing out on the best parties with the most fabulous, stylish people, this film might slake your desperate, lonely, glitterless hunger. The film in question is from i-D, and its a relentlessly sparkling romp through time and glamour, in honour of the mag’s 35th birthday.
The film, Beauty Evolution, traces the changing faces, dresses and music of the last four decades or so, with wild flights of the camera that make us feel like we’ve been there for pretty much every important moment in said time. Just when we’re wishing we were mates with Nancy Spungen a divine Marc Bolan-esque character pops up and we wish we were all bellbottomed and glitter-faced too. Then we wish we could breakdance. It’s exhilarating, but bloody exhausting with it. What we see, though, is that beauty is anything that makes you feel great – and that i-D has shown us that through the years with incredible styling, an eye for the most exciting things on the street and that wink.
