Pentagram: Berry Bros. & Rudd

Pentagram has designed a series of 16 bottle labels for wine seller Berry, Bros. & Rudd, exploring themes of visual puns, dingbats and conundrums.

One such label for Leap in the Dark shows the word “leap” in a black box, for example; while One More River to Cross shows the word “river” multiple times, but struck through every time but once.

The type design for Futuro No Esta Escrito (The Future is Not Yet Written) was made using a traditional educational alphabet kit, and Eternal Return features a cyclic poem by Henry Ponder.

Most of the wines were also named by Pentagram, except for two: Stone the Crows and No Stone Unturned. The latter is designed to be reminiscent of a word puzzle.

This forms part of Pentagram’s ongoing work with the wine makers, for which the agency created the brand identity, ad campaigns and other products.
