Heineken® launch design challenge to coincide with LDF plans

Date

Next month the design world descends on the UK for the London Design Festival and we are thrilled to announce that this year It’s Nice That is partnering with Heineken® for an innovative pop-up lounge bar.

Heineken® has made headlines over recent years through eye-catching projects that reimagine what social and cultural spaces could and should be. The Pop-Up City Lounge applies this concept to the lounge bar, with international specialists in interior, product, fashion, graphic, motion and experiential design working their magic on two 40-foot shipping containers.

To coincide with the launch of the lounge, Heineken® is announcing the opportunity for you to take part in their “Iconic Design Challenge”: a competition that will offer eleven emerging designers the chance to reimagine the notion of a bar and to turn their vision on “social design” into reality.

Once all the applications have been reviewed, eleven brilliant finalists will be selected: five announced in the Pop-Up City Lounge in London this September, then two each in Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. Each winner will receive a live commission to design a unique Point of Sale for some of Heineken®’s best bars in the UK. They’ll receive mentoring from a well-respected and established designer and their designs will be announced and displayed in outlets nationwide.

Want to get involved? Heineken® is asking potential winners to submit examples of existing work so they can get an idea of what the people entering are really about. Just visit the dedicated website to fill out the necessary form and submit three of your best pieces of work for consideration.
