50 creatives give us the lowdown on their year for the 2014 It's Nice That Annual

Date
27 November 2014

In the past couple of years we’ve featured hundreds of great creative projects in our Annuals but rarely have we heard from those who’ve made an impact on the art and design world – until now. For 2014, we’ve interspersed the Annual with short Q&A interviews with 50 creatives who have impressed and inspired us over the past 12 months.

From the exhibitions they most enjoyed and the songs that have soundtracked their year, to their professional highs, un-fulfilled hopes and personal creative heroes, each profile provides an intimate insight into their world.

There’s some lovely personal moments – from a loved-up Jessica Walsh, a USA-smitten Matt Willey and Agi & Sam’s Manchester United mockery – but taken together there’s also the odd theme that emerges. So everyone loved the Matisse Cut-Outs at Tate Modern, musically-speaking Future Islands dominated the year (with a few mentions of Let It Go from Frozen from the parents we spoke to) and almost everyone wishes they’d worked on more personal projects.

So if the promise of 130 plus creative projects isn’t quite enough to persuade you that you need this book in your life, maybe the promise of our 2014 profiles might sway you.

The full list of creatives profiled in the 2014 it’s Nice That Annual is: Paul Smith, Matt Willey, Jessica Walsh, Alexandra Lange, Hey Studio, Spencer Murphy, Jean Jullien, Agi & Sam, David Pearson, Eric Yahnker, Max Fraser, Veronica Ditting, Simon Hanselmann, Mike Moloney, Anna Lomax, Leta Sobierjaski, Jessica Hische, Elana Schlenker, Charlotte Heal, Colophon, Alec Dudson, Shaz Madani, Dan Wilton, David Mckendrick, Gaute Tenold Aase, Jane Stockdale, Hattie Stewart, Joe Luxton, Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, King Zog, Aries Moross, Lotta Nieminen, Luke Stephenson, Lucy Nurnbery and Lydia Garnett, Malika Favre, Michael Renaud, Nalden, Miriam Elia, Nelly Ben Hayoun, Nik Roope, Polly Brown, Ryan Hopkinson, Sam Blair, Sarah May, Sonya Dyakova, Stefan Glerum, Studio Makgill, Studio Swine, Timothy Saccenti, Tony Brook.
