Helsinki-based Antti Kalevi’s happy characters are all created digitally despite their cut-out, paper-like appearance. In this update of work we see friendly plants and blocky greenery with cheeky figures smelling flowers, riding bikes and lazing in the sun.
Antti’s work still has the same sense of humour as last time we featured him, which was for his series of familiar art gallery scenes. His most recent characters have a lackadaisical yet cheery nature to them, heightened by the pops of primary colours that explode from them. A focus on large, formless shapes gives Antti’s work a warmth and expressiveness that is free to roam the page.
