Christopher Hitchens: Topic of Cancer

The death of writer Christopher Hitchens has been met with predictable polarity (including an unpleasant Twitter spat around his atheism) but he was always a figure who enjoyed provoking a reaction. After he was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, he turned his talents to himself and his illness, producing this remarkable, powerful article for Vanity Fair – be warned, it’s a tough read, but as an example of his immense ability and a reflection on the awful disease that killed him, it is peerless.
