Marinus Boezem: De Groene Kathedraal

Date
13 October 2011

Ok so technically we’re 24 years late to this (or four years early depending on how you look it) but we have been bowled over by De Groene Kathedraal or The Green Cathedral created by Dutch artist Marinus Boezem in 1987 and rapidly coming to fruition. Having planted Italian Poplars in the exact same positions as the stone columns in Reims Cathedral, the result will be an exact recreation of the landmark’s layout, with the trees due to reach full height in 2015. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s an inverse replica of the shape in a glade of trees just to the north. Tree-mendous! Found via Architizer and A Daily Dose of Architecture.
