Rebecca Wilson: Finest Paperware

Date
11 July 2011

Nice work from ceramasist Rebecca Wilson found over at designboom. She explains the nature of ‘throwaway culture’ and in partular the paper cup. “By imposing classical ceramic styling and transposing materials I aim to highlight and question our tendency towards wasteful consumerism. These cups are hand-built from cast sheets of handmade paper. They come in two different styles derivitave of traditional ceramic aestheitics. The ‘Jasperware’ version emulates Wedgewood’s iconic range using stained dyed paper and embossed relief details in white. And the Dutch classic ‘Blue Delft’ is alluded to in hand drawn decals in blue biro.”
