Carine Roitfeld curates Veuve Clicquot’s annual Widow Series

Date
20 October 2017

Carine Roitfeld has followed in the footsteps of FKA twigs as the curator behind the third instalment of the annual Veuve Clicquot Widow Series which opens to the public today, Friday 20 October in an Islington Townhouse.

The immersive experience series remembers the champagne brand’s widow founder Madame Clicquot. This year, Widow Series is helmed by former French Vogue Editor-in-Chief, now Editor-in-Chief and Global Fashion Director for all magazines at Harper’s Bazaar. The experience will be titled Seven, and will be based around Carine’s interpretation of the Seven Deadly Sins.

“Seven has always been my lucky number in life,” Carine said, “I constantly find inspiration in the number seven: the shape of it, the sound of it, the meanings and what it represents. It’s the seven wonders of the world, it’s lucky seven, it’s the seven days of the week, and now for me it’s Seven Deadly Sins."

Through seven rooms, wrath, greed, gluttony, sloth, envy, pride and lust will be explored via contributions from Tom Ford, MaxMara (who has designed the hostess uniforms), Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi and Atsudo Kudo. Patrick Kinmouth joins Carine as creative director with Antonio Manfred supporting the duo.

Jean-Marc Gallot, President Maison Veuve Clicquot, commented: “We are delighted to be collaborating with iconic visionary Carine Roitfeld and CR Studio for the third instalment of the Veuve Clicquot Widow Series. Madame Clicquot herself challenged conventions and was a true innovator of her time. The Maison embraces the attitude Carine has consistently conveyed through her work, her artistic yet audacious aesthetic and fashion leadership over the decades. We welcome another empowering woman into the house of Veuve Clicquot.”

The experience will run on Friday 20 October and Saturday 22 October in Islington, London.
