FKA twigs collaborates with 18-year-old David Ozochukwu on AVANTgarden issue two

FKA twigs has returned to collaborating with 18-year-old Austrian photographer David Ozochukwu on the latest issue of her Instagram zine, AVANTgarden. Twigs previously worked with the young creative when he photographed her campaign with Nike; he has once again lensed the artist, shooting the entirety of the issue.

Titled Dream Warrior, the second issue – again entirely published on Instagram slides – is based around a poem by Twigs about sleep, death, vulnerability, what she would leave behind, and what is ahead of her. The issue is promoting a range of pyjamas and eye masks she has designed together with London-based stylist Violetta Kassapi, whose work includes styling videos for Major Lazer, Wiley and Zara Larsson, and editorial for i-D and Hunger. Violetta also worked with Twigs on merchandise for her 2017 tour.

Twigs said on the collection: ”I’ve always worn my mother’s silk PJs on stage from my very first tour, but they wore out so I wanted to make some of my own. I’m also obsessed with sets and bold prints and, through my exploration of mysticism, I created symbols that protect and invite otherworldly creatures to assist those who wear the sets in their everyday lives.”

The team behind AVANTgarden has largely remained the same since issue one, including editor Suzannah Pettigrew and layout design by Matt de Jong.
