Sammy Shefa Idris
Now based in Amsterdam, Sammy Shefa Idris is a filmmaker from Hardegarijp, Friesland and a graduate of the Netherlands Film Academy. His practice integrates poetry, music and dance into narrative cinema. His graduation film Vaders Zijn Ook Zonen (Fathers Are Sons Too) explored loss and fatherhood, following King Ridwan, which was screened widely and included in the Movies That Matter programme. Sammy crafts intimate, socially resonant films that seek to leave the world better.
