Sijia Liu
Intricate and satisfying in equal measure, the Hangzhou-based artist Sijia Liu finds the sweet spot between simplicity and orchestration. Focusing on mixed-media painting alongside video, artist books and installations, she draws from ordinary objects and reconstructs them into reflections of complex emotions and tensions, resulting in work full of contrast – soft and sharp, vulnerable and resilient. A graduate of the China Academy of Art, in 2024 she joined an exchange at the École Supérieure d’Art et Design de Saint-Étienne in France.
