Vani Bhushan

Vani Bhushan is a photographer whose staged scenes, often made with actors and theatrical setups, examine the tensions between truth, performance and disinformation. Born in New Delhi and currently residing in New Haven, Connecticut, she creates temporal, active imagery, albeit still, marked by denial and delay – a relationship emboldened by the combination of large-format and 35mm formats. Vani’s work questions photography’s relationship to the document, reframing fact and fiction through intimate, embodied practice that feels both permanent and fleeting.
