Hang Yu

Working between documentary and still life photography, New York-based creative Hang Yu explores how subcultures and marginalised communities construct meaning and belonging. In his project The Show Goes On, Hang documents the Coney Island Clown Skool, capturing a temporary sanctuary where performance and play offer a sense for relief from societal expectations. Moving between observation and collaborative portraiture, his vivid, empathetic images examine the fluid boundaries between daily life, theatrical self-invention and community identity – all through an earnest, approachable lens.
