Lucie Penaud

Based in Noisy-le-Grand, France, illustrator Lucie Penaud grounds her imaginative storytelling in her daily drawing practice. Working across publishing, comic books, children’s books and commissioned illustration, her practice explores the relationships between interior and exterior worlds, as well as the organic and artificial, through odd, engrossing scenes that feel both familiar and distant. Influenced by comic art, classical painting and vintage animation, Lucie embeds magical realism into everyday observation throughout her work.
