Naruhiko

Working with canvas and oil paint, Osaka-based illustrator Naruhiko translates everyday residential neighbourhoods into simple yet artfully constructed compositions. With a distinctively organic feeling, her practice strips away complex detail to focus on subtle shifts in colour, form and spatial balance, transforming familiar Japanese cityscapes into rhythmic – but not repetitive – scenes. Influenced by Henri Matisse and David Hockney, Naruhiko champions a harmonious tension between everyday reality and formal abstraction.
