Meet The Graduates 2017 supporters A/D/O

As we unleash the 2017 It’s Nice That Graduates into the world, meet A/D/O, a creative working space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn who are kindly supporting us to champion their work. As a collaborative workspace, A/D/O are committed to continuously “exploring new boundaries in design,” an ethos that enables young talent to thrive in the industry. A/D/O is an initiative of MINI and part of the company’s exploration of innovations that improve urban life. It aims to stimulate great design and be a prolific source of new ideas for the future.

As the supporters of The Graduates 2017, “A/D/O believes in supporting designers at all levels of their career,” seeing our Graduates programme as “a great way to collaborate with young designers and expose their work to a wide audience not only in the UK, but in the US and beyond”. It’s Nice That and A/D/O have planned an exciting event in Brooklyn for September this year, providing a global stage for our graduates. More details of the event are to be announced soon.

A/D/O has created a public creative space that provides both a hub for the local community and desk space for designers to rent. To encourage designers to collaborate, the workspace provides workshops, conferences, film screenings and talks from industry leaders. “Our aim is that by bringing designers together in this way, A/D/O encourages new ideas through research, collaboration and inspiration between emerging designers, established designers, and anyone interested in design.”

Transparency is fundamental to A/D/O and its workspace, it is committed to providing an open platform for designers to fully engage with one another. “A key aim of A/D/O is the bringing together of emerging designers with those more established,” says managing director Nate Pinsley. “The architecture of A/D/O is open with all zones either accessible or visible to all. Graduates in the space have access to professional advice, inspiration and mentorship from co-workers.”

A/D/O’s advice to recent graduates follows the ethos of the workspace environment it has created: “The best advice I can offer is to get involved, attend exhibitions, events and conferences as these offer endless insight, ideas and opportunities to connect with like minded designers in your field,” says Nate. “Aside from that, dream big, always seek inspiration, and believe in your unique perspective.”
