Ana Tortos animates a hallucinatory tale in surreal new music video

In her animation for Parisian artist Petit Prince’s release Deux Mille Dix, Ana Tortos illustrates the synth-heavy story of a prince who attempts to take flight from his nest through cities, deserts and rainbow clouds. Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupépy’s 1943 story The Little Prince , which tells of a pilot stranded in the desert who meets a young prince fallen to earth from an asteroid, the animation is awash with bright colours and references to 1960s illustration and hallucination.

The story of youthful melancholy is interjected with clouds made up of lions and birds and storks flying above the earth’s orbit. It’s pretty far out, and having first written about Ana’s work back in March , here we see her characters and surreal compositions come on leaps and bounds—and (maybe) take flight.
