BVD’s latest packaging design project is a union of excellent design across the disciplines. The work was created for furniture and product brand Vitra, which has licences to distribute the likes of Herman Miller, Eames and Verner Panton designs. As such, it never disappoints, and the consistently beautiful work of Swedish graphic design studio BVD certainly does it justice.
According to BVD, the agency has “quietly admired Vitra’s exceptional range of furniture and interior accessories” for years, and so the project was an important one to get right.
It looked to the brand’s tenets of simplicity, functionality, durability and beauty for the packaging designs. This resulted in an approach using texture created using uncoated, unbleached card as a backdrop for some charming illustrations. These give a feeling of understatement but also of careful craftsmanship. The type aligns with Vitra’s other main brand touchpoints, using a modified version of Futura that keeps things modern and, as BVD desired, very beautiful indeed.
