Cartoonist Nathan Cowdry introduces a strange and wonderful world in his comic, Western Voyeur

Date

Western Voyeur is a manga-inspired exploration of the world of characters Porcha, Gobo-Chan and Dogson. In the comic by cartoonist Nathan Cowdry we see Gobo-Chan transcend forms from unicorn to angel globule and expert leg shaver. It also plays the character of the protagonist, Po-Cha-Chan’s best friend and comrade, advising her on running over badgers, aiding her self-esteem and taking abuse for trying to take over at the driving seat.

In the Fast Show-esque video promoting his comic, Brighton-born Nathan plays golf whilst smoking a cigar, and is interviewed in plush, leathery surroundings where he identifies “Mother Nature and Neil Buchanan” as his main sources of inspiration. The interview falls into a wine-infused stupor, but not without golden moments of promotion such as: “ Western Voyeur transcends the form, I’m working in parameters that have never been explored. I’m working with ideas that have never been shared, there’s a whole world out there and I’m exploring it with my mind.”
