Impeccable record sleeve design from Amsterdam studio HOAX

I was surprised to learn that Amsterdam’s HOAX studio don’t seem to have been on the site before, and faced with their wide-ranging portfolio it was a challenge to focus in on a narrative that made sense. Founders Bram Buijs, Sven Gerhardt and Steven van der Kaaij joined forces based on their “shared love for typography, material and experimentation” and this passion for fresh creative thinking runs throughout their work.

As they say on their site: "Nothing is static in HOAX; experimentation is everything. We don’t operate from templates or formulas, but rather tackle each project afresh. It’s a nuts and bolts approach, which allows us to find the right visual language to communicate your ideas.

“The visual world can be chaotic but the method by which we work means that the development of your ideas is unique and the end product reaches out from the chaos to communicate them in a clear, straightforward and always original way.”

Examples of this abound, but a good way into their work is via their record sleeve design, whereby they forge longterm relationships with record labels like Fourth Wave and Rwina to create a wealth of eye-catching visual treatments.
