Sometimes, an artist’s client list simply speaks for itself. From Megan Thee Stallion and Rina Sawayama to Rosalía and Lil Nas X, Sardinia-based type designer Luca Devinu has seemingly worked with all of today’s biggest and brightest stars. While an artist’s talent should never be measured by their clients, there’s something to be said about those who are working at the top of their game and for good reason. Luca’s designs specifically focus on “old ornamental letters”, he tells us, and always approach “ancient typographic forms with a contemporary eye” often oscillating between elegance and extremity.

Built mainly in Adobe Suite and Zbrush, Luca claims most of the work is done in the research phase. “I mostly work in the music industry creating identities and titles but also for movies, so most of my creative influences are from what surrounds me, sometimes it's nature and sometimes futurism depends on what I have to communicate visually with words,” he says. “I love living in a constant personal challenge with my work, archiving stuff and collecting any kind of images because everything, with the right perspective can be a reference.” We can only wait with bated breath for what is sure to be another high-profile gig coming round the corner for Luca.
