Fantastic design work in Marcel Häusler’s One Poster a Day project

Date
30 October 2015

Now we’re a little late to the party with Marcel Häusler’s One Poster a Day project that wrapped up in January, but when a year-long series is this sublime, it’s only fair to give it the praise it deserves. We’ve featured Marcel’s design work before, but this project started all the way back in January 2014, when the Hamburg-based designer challenged himself to design one poster a day. The 365 posters now sit proudly on a dedicated website that shows them big and beautifully and it’s impressive to see them all lined up together.

So often these 365 day projects appear in the digital ether, yet they always seem to run out of steam. What’s lovely about this project is not only did Marcel finish his mission but he’s produced a series of consistently great posters. Pulling inspiration from all manner of things including the ebola crisis, the unrest in Ukraine, famous quotes, words and phrases and universal experiences, Marcel gave himself a wealth of material to play around with. Mixing various typefaces, colours, and compositions, a plethora of styles and references can be picked out from Marcel’s poster work. Earlier this year Marcel exhibited his posters at 3sec.gallery in Breda, via their drive-by exhibition space, giving visitors the chance to coolly view 52 of Marcel’s posters in three seconds while driving through a car park.
