Rafa Goicoechea visualises familiar design quotes with intriguing typography

Working out of Barcelona, designer Rafa Goicoechea’s work tends to focus on corporate identities, type design and art direction. Off the back of his particular flair for typography, design association AIGA recently invited him to interpret five quotes of his choosing and create new work for their Quoted series. Citing the likes of M. C. Escher, Ellen Lupton and Leonardo da Vinci, the results see pearls of wisdom from the worlds of art and design spelled out with interlocking, multidimensional lettering and rough, charcoal-like gradients. Either short and sweet like “Design is people,” or slightly more poetic, Rafa gives engaging and dynamic form to familiar tokens of thought.
