Oh boy – you don’t have to be into Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros or Mumford & Sons and their Mums to feel the pure jubilation this film promises. A headliner film at SXSW, BIG EASY EXPRESS sees aforementioned beardy bands and four more take a trip (physical, psychological) on their very own train from San Fransisco to New Orleans which looks like sun + banjos and sounds like one big cacophonous adventure. This documentary, directed by Emmett Malloy, follows in a long line of filmmakers drawn to the extraordinary energy emanated by sound makers of the zeitgeist variety and looks to hold its own.
