Is there nothing Tim and Eric can touch without turning it into a gleaming hunk of gold? I’d have imagined that homeware would be simply too dry for their unique brand of slapstick, but somehow the American comedy duo have succeeded in making an ad for GE Link lightbulbs, dreamt up by BBDO New York, which is pant-wettingly funny and super slick without undermining their usual offerings on American channel Adult Swim.
The ad revolves around movie god Jeff Goldblum who plays an incredibly smug celebrity who (knowingly) owes all of his success to really good lighting. To tell you any more would spoil it, so I’ll leave you to enjoy the subtle cadences in his voice, the plaster casts of Greek busts littered throughout the set and the brainwave which had a costume designer somewhere ironing a print of Jeff’s face onto the back of his sparkly gold blazer. Simply put, Tim and Eric are the crème de la crème of brilliantly dry adult humour – somebody give the person responsible for hiring these two a bonus.
