The Weekend With From Form

“Spending our time as a family with our one year old has drastically changed the way we interact with our city and what it has to offer. During weekends, it means short day trips, a stroll through the park with our dog Kuro, flea markets or having a nice lunch. In the evening, we often watch movies at home, read books or cook tasty meals.

We would like to visit the recently opened Yves Klein exhibition at Stedelijk Museum in Schiedam. Earlier in the year, each January, IFFR (International Film Festival Rotterdam) takes over Rotterdam – which we’ll never miss.”

“We’d love to read more (especially by our new fireplace!), but most of the time we just end up in front of our projector... but Jurjen has joined a book club with friends to encourage more reading! Project Hail Mary is currently on the list. Apartamento is always lying around the house, it features very inspiring interviews that often resonate! At the studio, there’s a big stack of art books that still need to be read, including MUBI’s recent publication Read Frame Type Film, about film and typography.”

“On weekends, we frequently visit Villa Augustus. It’s a hotel, a shop, a garden and a restaurant working with a lot of fruit and vegetables from their own (huge) garden.

When dining out quick or casually in Rotterdam, we choose Korean at Gamasot, burgers at Niko’s in Kino, or fancy Mexican at Masa. We recently heard that Matroos en het Meisje is expanding on Katendrecht with a bistro called Het Meisje. We look forward to that!

When cooking at home, we often browse a cookbook by Dutch chef Yvette van Boven or use The New York Times cooking app for inspiration.”

“Going to the movies together (at our beloved Kino cinema) is something we miss the most since becoming parents, although we sometimes can sneak in a screening during a workday. This realisation led us to upgrade our living room with a projector, so now we can properly watch films when Yves goes to bed. Our last cinema visit was Backrooms, which we found very impressive! We tend to keep a close eye on everything released from the A24 universe.”
