Joan Cornellà set to create new animations based on his comic strips

Date
5 January 2016

Known for his gruesome but entertaining comic strips, Joan Cornellà’s brightly coloured panels of suffering and hilarity have become a firm favourite at It’s Nice That. Now the Spanish illustrator wants to take his work off the page and animate his strips into short videos.

The idea is to make 30 clips with stories adapted from his last book ZONZO, as well as a whole bunch of new stories. The project is just shy of its $80,000 target on Kickstarter and the pledge video sees an unusual man impersonating Joan rather than appearing himself. With rewards ranging from a silkscreen print to Joan’s wig, if funded the animations are set to be released in June 2016.
