Damien Hirst’s gallery and two Oxford University buildings are on RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced its shortlist for this year’s Stirling Prize, known as architecture’s Oscars. The six-strong shortlist includes three education buildings, with two at the University of Oxford, and Newport Street Gallery, three Victorian workshops converted by Caruso St John architects to house Damien Hirst’s private collection.
It also features the first private house to reach the shortlist in 15 years, called Outhouse by Loyn & Co architects, and Trafalgar Place, a residential development by dRMM within Elephant and Castle’s massive overhaul. City of Glasgow College’s Riverside Campus also made the cut.
The winner will be announced on 6 October.
