Unsure about applying for The Graduates 2020? This year, we are judging Grads differently

We’re aware that many of you graduating in 2020 have been unable to make the work you envisaged, due to restricted access to studios. We assure you, we will keep this front of mind when judging this year’s Grads.

The Graduates has always been a passion project for us at It’s Nice That and this year, in spite of the exceptional circumstances, it is no different. It is an indescribable joy to see your talents shine through, a small glimpse into the future leaders of our industry. The annual series is a chance for graduates from all over the world to showcase exceptional creativity. It’s an opportunity to show the rest of the creative industry why we need you, so please do submit your online portfolio here before midnight GMT on Sunday 28 June in order to be considered.

That being said, we’re well aware that many of you have been unable to create the work you intended, with restricted access to workshops, studio spaces and other necessary tools during the pandemic. We know this lack of resources has impacted your final output, and we want you to know that we will take this this into careful consideration when judging this year’s Grads. If you’re graduating with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in 2020, we would love to hear from you and see the work you’ve been making in the face of unforeseen challenges and adversity.

Though this work may not be what you envisaged, we want to celebrate the resilience you’ve so brilliantly shown over the past few months. We admire your flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to the exceptional circumstances and will have this front of mind when looking through your work. If you’re still feeling unsure about applying, we hope this message encourages you to get your work seen, even if it’s not how you wanted it to be. We would love to see your personalities shine through in whatever you have been able to create, and applaud you for making the best out of an unprecedented situation. Previous It’s Nice That Graduates have gone on to do incredible things and without a doubt, this year will be no exception.

We look forward to hearing from you and don’t forget, there are less than two weeks to apply!
