Ellis T. Carroll

Photographer Ellis T. Carroll explores heritage and mythology in his series Common Folk, an eight-part fashion editorial celebrating British and Irish folklore. Shot on medium and large format film – and hand-printed in the darkroom – the project combines extensive archival research and conversations with folklorists to re-contextualise traditional tales. By bringing surreal visual aesthetics to historical narratives, Ellis presents folklore to new audiences through a cumulative photobook of fashion and photography.
