Ai Iijima

Ai Iijima is a blacksmith apprentice and jewellery designer who creates a range of work from very sturdy useful things to delicate handmade jewellery. She has been learning to become a traditional English blacksmith, working on projects in her beautiful forge at Glynde in East Sussex. Ai designs and makes her own items combining the traditional techniques and her experiences and memories from living in Japan, interpreting the processes and products of life, growth and death to beautiful effect.
